About HIGHER VASCULAR SURGERY

This website was developed by a general surgeon with an interest in teaching and education. Higher Vascular Surgery has been designed to give a more realistic portrayal of how the exam is.

We have designed questions that will help you revise and prepare you for taking the section 1 of the FRCS vascular surgery exam. The questions attempt to reflect the style of the exam and also use a question modelling style to help you use your knowledge and applying it to different questions and scenarios. We have used a wealth of experience and up to date guidelines from NICE and the national societies to provide you with the most contemporary surgical knowledge in preparation for the exam. When we were preparing for the exam we used a lot of resources including the excellent websites like eFRCS, OnExamination, FRCS Companion and Surgery Online. We used multiple MCQ books but the reality is that the more questions you answer the more attuned your mind is to tackling the exam. There is also no dedicated vascular question bank other than some of the US ones which are good but expensive. Often trainees tell us that they have had to pay for multiple question banks only really needing to use a couple of question categories. Higher Vascular Surgery aims to bridge that gap and we will update our bank dependent on feedback to really make it your question bank for the vascular surgical exam.

Abundance of Questions

Various questions covering all your needs, retake and revise as many times as you like.

Even after we used all the resources available trainees felt very unprepared to take part 1 and this website aims to plug that gap.

We designed this bank to give you a true reflection of the exam as we experienced it in its style and difficulty.

We want this resource to be for you and are really open to suggestions on how to improve our services and hope you will engage with us too.

We created a comprehensive package of other resources to help you succeed.

These include our Twitter feed @HFrcs on twitter where we post regular questions to give you some insight into the questioning style and also what your colleagues would answer too!

We have created an Instagram community (h_frcs), a Facebook page and group with regular updates.

For those of you at the beginning of your revision we have an excellent generic starter course (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/frcs-section-1-tips-and-techniques-tickets-158506554371?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch) run regularly where we go through cancer protocols and the application process.
